Welcome to the Light Services LLC website!

Light Services LLC was established in January 1999 as a partner company to Sound Services LLC, in response to client expectations of one point of contact for both sound and lighting production support.  Further, we are now able to more completely control the performance and assure the high quality of lighting and media image services, in keeping with the production standards of Sound Services LLC developed over the past twenty-five years.  We have significant successful experience in providing the full range of stage lighting services, from routine concert productions to elaborate and demanding corporate events and meetings. We also provide and integrate traditional video and computer multi-media with the right event and stage lighting as a complete package.

Light Services LLC is a full-service, reliable and traditional Rental & Staging production company.  You can rent projectors and screens from us, and/or you can hire us to stage a complex event in a large venue.

Light Services LLC provides complete audio-visual (AV) multi-media production services, from simple computer presentation and/or video tape playback to projector(s) in a meeting space, all the way up to complex multiple-camera event stage image mag, switched with many different media sources to multiple projector and recording destinations. We can also provide a variety of levels of event planning and pre-production, as necessary to assist our customers in developing the show look and impact desired for their presentations.

EXAMPLE SYSTEMS:

As with our basic sound system packages, we can generally categorize the desired media production packages as small, medium and large.

A small system could include a basic, but high-quality scaler/switcher, like the Extron DVS204, with single camera (1/3 inch 3-CCD HDV) archive record (to HDV tape or PC hard drive via DV Rack); and, one each: computer (PowerPoint), DVD and DV or SVHS inputs, sent to one of our Panasonic PT-DW5100U (16:9 Widescreen) 6K DLP projectors. We use the new, High-contrast CinemaVision projection screens from Da-Lite, which offer superior images compared to traditional rental stock screens.  We are the only AV rental and staging company in our areas with widescreen projectors and screens in inventory.
We can also provide the AV basics for smaller, "break-out" type meeting rooms - for example, where a large plasma display would be more appropriate than a projector/screen combo.

A medium system could include the above, or traditional video production switcher, plus a two-camera IMAG system (via High Definition HD/SDI outputs from our Canon XL-H1 cameras), with confidence record, and more, larger projectors - like these great new Panasonic 10Ks.  Three-chip DLP 10,000-Lumen projection is visibly better than the last-generation, washed-out LCD units you may be tempted by elsewhere to underbid the budget.

A large system encompasses a full set of broadcast-quality (2/3 inch 3-CCD) cameras - like our Hitachi Z3500s, with the appropriate choice of Broadcast (not the lower-grade, "Pro Video") lenses from Canon.  Further included as appropriate are the traditional engineering and production racks, broadcast-quality HD/SDI switcher, multiple sources and record feeds, multiple displays, etc.  This type of system package is now routinely provided with High-Definition sources and displays (16:9 screens).

We are a long-time Rental Partner for the fabulous Barco/Folsom Encore Presentation System. Once a client sees this system in use, it's a must-have for their events.

Here's a few images and links to see Encore's multiple-projector, blended wide-screen capabilities in use:

Light Services LLC provides high quality stage and event lighting systems, with both conventional and moving lights:

CONVENTIONAL:

Source4 PAR lamps and lensed instruments and Sensor dimming from Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC).

We have 120-lamp ETC Source4 "two-truss" systems in custom, low-profile Total Structures Omni-connector equipped DPRT truss, with ETC's Sensor Touring and Portable dimmers.

We have the new Thomas extruded lamp bars: six circuits pre-wired with VSC connectors, but which can hold up to ten (!) Source4 PARs each, and are ideal for "ballroom" systems when combined with our inventory of James Thomas Engineering's 12" SuperTruss, and the new, lightweight Squarelite truss.

ALL of our PRT and 12" beam truss inventory has quick- and easy-assembly "forked-ends" (spigot pins). This connection design provides significantly greater span strength than bolted truss.

We have control consoles by Avolites, featuring the remarkable new Pearl Expert. We also have a selection of cost-effective smaller consoles from NSI, as appropriate for smaller events.

And, of course we have the expected "specials": Thomas 6- and 9-lamp spot banks ("audience abuse"), pre-wired four-lamp PAR64 Thomas ACL bars, the new Altman FC-1 Focusing Cyc lights, Wybron Forerunner color scrollers, Lycian spotlights, DF-50 hazers, foggers, strobes, beacons, etc.

We also have high-quality soft goods (15'x30' panels, truss "teasers", etc. all in 21-oz black Allure) by Dazian Fabrics, as well as a good selection of decorative White Sharkstooth Scrims and Lenos from Rosebrand.

Our corporate customers love our light grey Leno cyc backdrops. Leno fabric excels as an upstage "bounce", compared to old-school tan or white canvas. The textured reflection of Leno creates a beautiful "glow" when taking light from any sources, allowing an entire show look to be created by projecting multiple light sources (cycs, movers, gobos, projectors, etc.) onto the same cloth.

INTELLIGENT:

We keep Studio Color (575S) Studio Spot 575 CMY (color mixing), Studio Color 250 and Studio Spot 250, all from High End Systems, for our standard in-house inventory.

We have extensive moving light design and programming capabilities, with industry-wide connections and cross-rental support for successfully bringing together show designs of any size.

But, it's really more about the people than the hardware - we have artistic, talented lighting designers in-house; and, a good depth chart of on-call freelancers. One of our favorites:

Monty Taylor

EXAMPLE EVENTS:

Here's a typical "radio show" rig for our customer, Cumulus Broadcasting. The event is the Mobile, AL "Hot 104 Back2Skool Bash". Note how the Total DPRT truss' Omni fittings allow construction of continuous angled designs, without corner blocks. This truss design can be changed on-site to compensate for different stage layouts.

Here's a view of a "box" design commonly used for corporate music events - upstage and downstage DPRT, with side beams for cable bridge and moving lights.

And here's a much more elaborate rig, for Sing Song 2002 at Abilene Christian University:

Here's an image of a routine arena lighting rig: Our 120-lamp ETC Source4 / Tomcat two-truss, with a mid-stage truss for Intellabeams, and an upstage truss for backdrop and client banners.

This show was the 2000 "Southern Heritage Classic" at Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, TN. The act on stage is "Morris Day and the Time".
